As a IUFRO officeholder, you apply for a IUFRO grant independently of your career stage. You may apply a grant for a IUFRO meeting, in which you have an active role as an office holder. Your name must be on the IUFRO’s who-is-who list and the IUFRO event, for which you apply the grant, must be on IUFRO’s events list (https://www.iufro.org/events/calendar/current/). If your nomination to the office is new, you must add a proof of your nomination in the application documents. You must also justify why the participation to the event is necessary for your IUFRO tasks. Giving a conference lecture is not a sufficient justification.
As a IUFRO office holder, you may apply a grant also for pre- or post-congress events, if the participation is necessary for your tasks as an office holder. This kind of event may be e.g., own meeting or excursion of your Working Party or Research Group. You must justify what is your duty as an office holder in the event.
We hope that you submit your application during the general grant application period of the Finnish Society of Forest Science. You may apply also any time of the year, provided funds awarded by the foundation Metsämiesten säätiö are still available. If you plan to apply for a IUFRO grant out of the general grant application period, please, contact the Executive Manager of the Finnish Society of Forest Science (pekka.nygren [ät] metsatiede.org; tel 044 558 1199) before making your application.
